Description
Mineral(s): Beryl var. Goshenite capped with Beryl var. Aquamarine
Locality: Erongo Mountain, Erongo Region, Namibia
This is an aesthetic piece featuring the lesser-known white (or colorless) variety of beryl called goshenite, which itself transitions to blue aquamarine at the crystals's tips! The columnar crystals go up to 3.4 cm long, and two of the largest crystals also have complex terminations (you can see this at the edge of the big fat crystal sticking out to the left). A big crystal seems noticeably broken though. These crystals are sitting on tightly packed black needles of schorl tourmaline.
European collectors sometime calls these bi-colored specimens "greenkop beryl" in reference to the cap being a bluish green color, though this one is more bluish. Also, some of these specimens are a bit yellow enough to be heliodor beryl instead of goshenite beryl, and other times, the main portion is a very light blue color that the whole crystal would probably be considered entirely aquamarine.

This is amazing. I like the Hexagonal shape.
