Description
Mineral(s): Hemimorphite
Locality: Ojuela Mine, Mapimí, Durango, Mexico
Mother nature at its finest!
Here is a group of white to colorless hemimorphite crystals, in delicate blades forming flower-like formations. They sit on top of a brown limonite matrix coated with drusy quartz.
Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate mineral traditionally mined for its zinc content. The well-known Ojuela Mine in Mexico has an abundance of this mineral, and in certain cases forms these fragile "flowers".
